The inaugural three-day Sculptures by the River collaborative workshop has tasked local residents with creating seven full-scale horse sculptures with wood collected from across the estate, all under the tuition of local sculptor Brett Garling.
"You don't know what you're going to get. It's all about finding shapes from within the timber you've got and working with it," Mr Garling said.
"It's almost got a primitive feel to it, and there's a lot of childlike creativity. It's very freeing, there's a lot of joy in it."
Two of the newly-minted sculptors, Pink Angels volunteers Pam Urquhart and Anne Gemmell, plan on auctioning their horse for the charity.
"We raise money for breast cancer patients in Dubbo and the district, helping patients with their ongoing care, delivering meals, helping out elderly husbands that are left at home and even gardening," Ms Gemmell said.
All of the horses will be on public display at Lazy River Estate from 10am until 4pm on Saturday and Sunday, with gold coin entry. The proceeds will go to Pink Angels Inc.
