With the riders going off in bunches of two and three, everyone had to work hard with nowhere to hide in the crowd.
Jody Phillips made up two minutes on Kathy Furney to catch her with five kilometres to go.
Working together they held onto the lead, with Phillips taking out first place and Furney second.
Starting at 16 minutes, 19 seconds Susan Madden, John O'Brien and Sam Peacocke combined well, catching the 12.38 bunch of Kerrie Cooper, Peter Sheridan and Michelle Beattie with a few kilometres to go.
With a slight uphill finish, Sam Peacocke was able to get to the line ahead of the others and take out third place.
With everyone ahead of them, the scratch riders of Craig May and Simon Friend put in the big ones to catch all those in front of them.
Shortly after the turn around, Mick Cooper and Ray Wheeler (22.58) caught Maurie Ashford and Jeff Sargent (21.08) but these four were in turn swooped on by Friend and May.
This group worked to catch Chris Brook and Mark Weir (19.20) before Mogriguy, and then shortly after gobbled up Chris Turtle and Luke Beange (17.26).
Being a relatively flat course, plus the fact that a bit of tactics came into play as the finish line came into sight, this big bunch was able to stay together.
The wily Maurie Ashford led them across the line for eighth with Craig May filling ninth and Ray Wheeler hanging in there for 10th.
Top place on the winter point score continues to see-saw with Susan Madden moving to the number one spot on the table.
However Jeff Sargent, Chris Brook and Chris Turtle are hot on her heels, with the ever-consistent Evan Elliott next on the ladder ahead of Craig May.
