Friday, August 14 - Lust for Live is a monthly series of events creating opportunities for live music fans to see original music from local and regional artists. Cost is free. From 8pm at the Macquarie Inn on Birch Avenue.
Friday, August 14 - The Wesley House Players will present The Complete Works of William Shakespeare from 7.30pm to 10.15pm at the Wesley Community Centre at 69 Church Street. Tickets are from $15.
Friday, August 14 - Come and relive the magic and the classic hits of Roy Orbison & The Everly Brothers, some of the world's greatest and most successful Rock 'n' Roll music legends of all time. Held at the Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre. Starting at 8pm. Cost is $69.90 for adults, Concession is $64.90 and group of 8 or more people is $59.90.
Friday, August 14 - Official Opening Stars in the River: The Prints of Jessie Traill. Celebrates the career of one of Australia's most important printmakers of the twentieth century, Jessie Traill. Cost is free. Starts at 6pm at the Western Plains Cultural Centre.
Saturday, August 15 - Join the Red Cross for the Big Cake Bake and raise money for people in need. The Big Cake Bake will be held at the Red Cross Shop from 10am to 12.30pm. Red Cross staff are also calling on donations of cakes and slices and goods to sell on the day. For more details visit www.bigcakebake.org.au.
Saturday, August 15 - Dubbo leg of the Black Dog Ride as 120 riders from across NSW arrive in Dubbo raising funds and awareness for Lifeline and Mental Health First Aid. Dubbo residents can support the fundraising efforts of the riders by heading to Victoria Park No 1 at 12.30pm for the Black Dog Rugby Round or, following the game, join the riders at the Commercial Hotel for the charity auction. From 12pm.
Saturday, August 15 - The Dubbo Farmers Markets will be held from 8am to 12pm at Macquarie Lions Park. The markets offer a range of seasonal fresh produce, fresh fruit and vegetables, herbs and plants. There is also fresh bread, a selection of local pork, beef and lamb, award winning olive oils, preserves, jams, marinates honey, wine, nuts and so much more.
Sunday, August 16 - Relive the grand old days of steam aboard the Great Western Tour this August. Departs Wongarbon at various times during the day from 9.20am. Enjoy a 1-1.5 hour ride. Adults $30, Seniors $20, Children $15. Dubbo Train Station.

Friday, August 21 - Sunday, August 23 - Aboriginal storyteller Larry Brandy will be in Dubbo from August 21 to August 23 as part of National Science Week.
Join Larry as he shows how Aboriginal people's knowledge of the environment helped them survive. Learn how Aboriginal people have been using science for thousands of years.
At the Macquarie Regional Library from 11am to noon (bookings essential on 6801 4510). Saturday, August 22 at Western Plains Zoo from 10am to 12pm and Orana Mall from 3pm to 5pm. Sunday August 23, Western Plains Cultural Centre from 9.30am to 11.30pm. Cost is free.
