Ms Monsuere is helping her dad to reach his lifelong dream of building a special shed in his backyard with a two-post car hoist.
Only he has no idea she's doing it.
"If you know him, please don't tell him. I don't want him to find out until I've raised the money," Ms Monsuere said.
The goal is to raise $15,000 through a Go Fund Me account to cover the costs of the shed, the concrete slab, the hoist and its installation.
"I would love to see the look on his face when I could present him with the cheque for the money he needs," Ms Monsuere said.
In 2013 Mr Monsuere was diagnosed with bowel cancer. He underwent surgery and six months of chemotherapy but in May this year cancer was found in his liver.
Ms Monsuere said after two major surgeries and the after effects of chemotherapy getting under cars on the cold concrete to service them was no longer an option for her dad.
"We've spent many a weekend with the tape measure out scratching measurements on the dirt [for his dream shed].
"His face lights up whenever he talks about it and the excitement of the possibility washes over his face."
The Go Fund Me page has already reached close to $1000.
"I just felt like I needed to do something. Anyone whose family member has had cancer would know how useless they feel because there's not much you can do," Ms Monsuere said.
She said she was extremely grateful to everyone who had already donated, especially those who were dealing with cancer themselves. Find the page at www.gofundme.com/dwmbfc.
