He came out to Cobar with the Orchestra last year and was so impressed with Cobar that he came back to see if he could purchase a block of land for a small building, which is to be specially built in the bush, but not too far from town to host weekends of performing artists on a regularly basis.
Unfortunately we could not find the correct block of land to support his venture.
On Thursday I met with Scott McLachlan who is the CEO of the Western Area Health District and Mary Urquhart, health service manager at Cobar Hospital.
They came to visit me as there was a real mix up with dates to have a full meeting regarding the proposed Multipurpose Health Service.
By all reports there was another big crowd at the Louth Races on Saturday with many from Cobar travelling across for the day.
I have received many positive reports on the excellent condition of the Louth Road, well done to the council staff who worked hard over the last few weeks to prepare it.
Maintenance grading crews are currently out on the Gidgee Road, the Glenwood Road and are continuing along the Wooltrack.
Tonight there will be an aircraft landing at the airport as part of their flight test of Cobar Airport.
This is the final step in certification of the new lighting system, which will allow the airport to be certified, rather than just a registered airport.
This will mean that larger aircraft will legally be able to regularly land at Cobar.
Last Thursday night, Cobar was awarded the NSW Heart Foundation award for a council under 5000 people.
This award recognises the efforts made by council to promote healthy lifestyles by providing quality community infrastructure and health programs for employees.
In particular, the Peak Skate Park was highlighted as a great community initiative to get our young people outside and active.
Enjoy your week.
