While enjoying the tunes at the Church Street Rotunda on Saturday morning, organiser Greg Marginson said the two-day event looked as though it was going to run "fantastically".
"We had a wonderful opening on Friday night at the Monkey Bar, people have come from all over to perform and to listen and appreciate the music," Mr Marginson said.
The Dubbo Jazz Festival committee were proud to uphold the traditions of the club, he said.
"We've had a large number of quality acts this year."
Mr Marginson said his love for jazz music brought back a fond feeling of nostalgia.
"Jazz is very accessible and it's upbeat," he said.
"I don't think the younger generation realise how much jazz influences contemporary music structure."
Dubbo Jazz Festival committee member Ken Smith said he believed the passion of Dubbo community for jazz music was what would stand behind the festival's future.
"People have been tapping their toes and smiling as they walked by the rotunda which I think is a fair indication that people enjoy the music," Mr Smith said.
The Honey Drippin' Mudskippers, a jazz band from Orange, were one of the three to perform at the Rotunda on Saturday morning,
Band member Ken Smith said they styled their performance on the "old jug band" days.
"Jazz is catchy, it's enjoyable and it's fun."
"The more people listen to it, the more they realise how much they enjoy the music," Mr Smith said.
