Approximately 70-80 participants attended the Mudgee Gala Day with teams from the Bathurst Giants, Bathurst Bushrangers, Orange Tigers, Mudgee Black Swans and the Orana Juniors competing in four-team round-robin event across two age groups.
Wearing their new OJAFL uniforms that were donated by Urban Beach and Sportco, all the players performed very well on the day, with the performances of Cooper Smith, Lachlan Rummans, Harvey Shephard, Katie Smith, Michael Smith, Harrison Davis, Ben Pepper and James Armour being commended on the day by the coaches of undefeated nine-and-over team.
For the eight-and-under team, that won two out of their three games, Jayden Webb, the Hunt brothers, Copper Dart, George Vella and Seb McDonald played very well and continue to develop their skills and learn the game.
The event was a great success according to OJAFL president, Kim Woodman.
"We are very proud our kids, and the effort that they displayed in each match," Woodman said.
"We can all see the kids continuing to improve each Sunday. The coaching teams are doing a great job, teaching the game to the kids and developing skills, and providing a positive environment".
"Many of our kids play a few different sports, but they are really loving having a kick at the Sunday morning sessions and playing a game in our developing competition. Hopefully they can take their good form into the Dubbo Gala Day."
The Dubbo Gala Day will be held on Sunday, August 9 at the South Dubbo Oval, commencing at 9.30am.
The Orana Junior AFL currently runs skills sessions and games for under-7s, under-10s and under-13s mixed age groups each Sunday morning at the South Dubbo Oval.
