The symposium will feature WPCC collections officer Jessica Moore, Macquarie Regional Library Dubbo branch local studies officer Simone Taylor, the University of NSW's Dr Gillian Fuller, the Art Gallery of NSW's Eric Riddler, and Contemporary Art and Feminism's Jo Holder and Catriona Moore,
"They will be discussing the way archives help to shape memory, and how archives work may affect how research can be conducted," WPCC manager Andrew Glassop said.
The workshop following the Dubbo symposium will teach participants how to use the Dictionary of Australian Artists Online (DAAO), one of the biggest data research projects in Australian visual culture.
Mr Glassop said they would learn "how to make their independent research visible".
"This research will contribute to Australia's leading research and collection institutions, again adding a regional voice to the story," he said.
The workshop will be conducted by Dr Fuller, a leading researcher in Australian visual art.
The symposium will run from 11am to noon on Saturday at WPCC with room for about 100 people. Only 20 places are available in the workshop.
