The students are from Dubbo's sister city Wujiang in China and are spending five days in Dubbo, as well as visiting Sydney and Melbourne.
Student Yuan Gaocheng said he had tried a meat pie which was delicious and the kangaroos at the zoo had been very cute.
On Friday Yuan, Gao Muyang and Shen Yu spent the day at Macquarie Anglican Grammar School.
Host Jackie Bayley said it had been really interesting to learn the differences between the two cultures.
The students and the two chaperones had also spent time at the agricultural TAFE, learning about sheering and sheep dogs, as well as visiting popular sites such as the Western Plains Cultural Centre.
Dubbo City Council director community services David Dwyer said the exchange program was part of strengthening economic ties between the two cities.
He said the sister cities were planning on an art exchange, where local Dubbo art would be featured in a Chinese gallery, and vise versa.
Some of the hosts such as Jackie will travel to Wujiang later in the year.
"The students are 14 and 15 and it opens up their minds as to what's outside their country," Mr Dwyer said.
He said he sees the students really blossom and come out of their shell when they return from their trip.
