East Dubbo is also back on the map, with 'build preparation' starting to connect about 7000 premises in East and West Dubbo to the NBN.
'Build preparation' involves activities such as checking underground infrastructure and clearing debris, which must be undertaken before construction, including laying cables and connecting premises, can get under way.
NBN spokesman Darren Rudd said the extension of the NBN at Dubbo would result in greater choice for broadband customers in terms of providers and packages.
It will also mean increased innovation and productivity across the business and agricultural sectors. "It's great for you guys because it means that all of your sectors can get really into the digital economy," Mr Rudd said.
"Innovation can now be developed and fostered even better in regional Australia. It means benefits to your businesses in way of productivity. Things you might have had to do outside of hours, now you can do it in real time."
"A lot of farmers measure the moisture in soil using sensors, for gate monitoring, for stock monitoring and that all gets transferred via fixed wireless back to the homestead - it's improving your productivity and knowledge on the farm."
All of the premises now starting build preparation and construction are expected to go live by early 2017.
"You can set an example for the rest of regional Australia," Mr Rudd said.
