Speaking ahead of their clash against the Dubbo Roos on Saturday, Flynn said the surge the side has enjoyed this season has stemmed largely from a culture change at the club.
"We have spoken about the need to change the culture, not just in first grade but all the way down through to third grade, and it's something we have probably spoken about more than other clubs this season," Flynn said.
"There were aspects of the culture that were very good last season. But after seeing the standard that was required to compete we knew we needed to change that. "So things have changed so much that it doesn't have to be mentioned, but the guys have really bought into it."
However, apart from a mantra of improving their defence the other catch-cry from the burrow this season has been not resting on their laurels.
Something they aim to do against a Roos side that is hell-bent on improving their sixth placing on the ladder.
"I have not heard too much about them at this stage of the season, but really I have not come across too many bad teams from Dubbo over the years," Flynn said.
"They've always been good, whether it's through recruitment or good coaching or both, but they always have good teams. "So we have not really worried too much about what they will have because we know they will be ready to play."
Mudgee has suffered an interrupted preparation to tomorrow's game with the team unable to train on Tuesday night. However, Flynn said it won't shake their focus as he and head coach Neil McDonald expect to name a close to full-strength side.
"We pulled up alright after the weekend, Dave (Jessiman) included, we have a few niggles but nothing that can't be managed," Flynn said.
"We aren't going to make any call regarding the team until Thursday night, but we aren't expecting anybody to be out."
