Hard-fought losses and agonising draws have been the tale of Westside's Group 11 season but on Saturday it all came together as they overpowered the Forbes Magpies at No. 1 Oval and ran away with a 44-26 win.
The first half was riddled with errors from both teams and they went into the sheds at 16-all but the Rabbitohs blew Forbes out of the water in the first 20 minutes after the break to seal their third win of the season.
"Again we didn't play 80 minutes, we probably played 60-65 and we clocked off a little but there's a great feeling in the sheds," Konz said after the win.
"The boys are playing the game the way you're meant to, for the love of the game and for friendship and family and it near brings a tear to my eye because I know how hard we've worked for this win."
Forbes' much vaunted forward pack struggled to get into the game as the likes of Konz, Dylan Hill and the hugely impressive Colt Tairua led the way for the Rabbitohs and Magpies captain-coach Zac Merritt admitted his side may have suffered a bit of complacency.
"We've just been a bit flat lately, we had a lot of success and we've rested on that a bit but now coming into the business end of the season we need to amp it up a bit," he said, before praising Westside's performance.
"They've fought their way back into the top five and they've got some class acts in there so a lot of credit to them, they kept turning up today and turning us around and got us."
Quentin Dickinson was again a standout for Westside and scored a hat-trick while Corey Cox, Viliame Turuva, Peter Boon, Josh Merritt and Hill also got across the line in the 18-point win.
Cox's runaway-intercept try early on gave Westside the lead and while Forbes got on top late in the first half Dickinson powered his way over to grab his first shortly before the break to leave it all square.
The hard-running centre grabbed his second shortly after the break after EJ Fernando batted back a Josh Merritt bomb before Boon turned back the clock as he weaved his way in and out of the defence to set up a 26-16 lead.
Forbes were shellshocked and the lead grew when Hill barged across before a brilliant 40/20 from Merritt lead to Dickinson grabbing his third.
The Magpies threatened to get back into it with Sam Coe and Ben Maguire crossing late but Merritt's individual effort with two minutes remaining put the icing on the cake for the Rabbitohs.
"I'm absolutely proud of the boys, the effort has been there but we've just been falling short," Konz said.
"At half-time at 16-all I told the boys to give themselves a pat on the back because all the hype was about their forwards and I think we held them and were on top of them and then in the second half we got a bit of a roll on and it's hard to stop the big fellas.
"The confidence we'll take from knocking off a big team like this will be unreal."
DUBBO WESTSIDE 44 (Quentin Dickinson 3, Corey Cox, Viliame Turuva, Dylan Hill, Peter Boon, Josh Merritt tries; Cox 5, Merritt goals) defeated FORBES MAGPIES 26 (Hayden Bolam, Jake Brace, Brad McMillan, Joe Coe, Ben Maguire tries; Bolam 3 goals)
