With a good crowd on track due to the long weekend and town reunion, it was Bob Tyack's consistent mare Bulwarra Belle that took out the feature event, the $7000 McDonalds Parkes Coradgery Cup (1400m).
The four-year-old Enemy Of Average x Mother Hubbard mare won just her third race from 27 starts, but those wins combined with 10 minor placings have given her earnings of almost $50,000.
On Saturday, Bulwarra Belle ($6.00, Ken Dunbar) had half-a-length to spare from Who Gives A Hoot ($6.00, James Innes Jr) with Dubai Bullet ($7.00, Eleanor Webster-Hawes) a further three-and-a-half lengths away in third place.
Celtic Power, ridden by Mathew Cahill, was sent out a $4.20 favourite by punters but disappointed by finishing 13th, beaten 7.4 lengths.
The other Dubbo-trained winners on the day were War Groom for Peter Nestor in the opening event, the Terry Fahey-trained Divine Design in race two, and Princess Bea for Bridge Jones in the last event on the program.
The final result was the biggest shock of the day, with Jones punters happy to let Princess Bea go out as a $15 chance despite having the services of champion rider Greg Ryan.
The four-year-old daughter of renowned wet-track sire Volcanic Prince showed the benefit of a five-week let up to sprint well over the 1000m journey and beat Stormy Angel ($15.00, Eleanor Webster-Hawes) by one-and-a-quarter lengths, with Black Baksheesh ($4.00, Catherine Newcombe) finishing in third spot.
