WESTERN Division centre Jyie Chapman believes his Dubbo CYMS clubmates Kieran Shipp and Colby Pellow will thrive on the big stage when the pair debut for the Rams in their Country Championships clash with Greater Northern at Bathurst's Carrington Park on Saturday.

A total of four Fishies will swap the green and white of CYMS for the green and white of Western in the clash, with Chapman, Shipp and Pellow joined by the experienced John Grey in a squad that features a eight Group 11 players, the others being Brandon Tago (Parkes), Justin Toomey-White (Wellington and Forbes pair Ben Maguire and Jake Grace.
The reigning Group 11 player of the year, Chapman got his first taste of division football in 2014 and knows what Shipp and Pellow are up against, but has backed the pair to handle the occasion.
"I played last year when we got beat on the bell, and I learned a lot from that game about what kind of level you're up against but I think we've got a good squad this year and can go a long way," Chapman said.
"There's a good mix of young guys and experienced players in the squad, and I think will help us.
"Colby and 'Cub' are obviously playing at this level for the first time but they've been killing it for CYMS and they're both very talented footballers so I think they will handle it pretty easily to tell you the truth.
"I don't think either of them get too nervous, they just go out there and play footy and if they keep it that way on Saturday they will show how good they are."
Chapman and Shipp came through the Macquarie junior system together, and while the hard-running centre's rise to rep football has been a bit more rapid, he admits he's excited to see his good mate get an opportunity in Mick Sullivan's squad, despite the fact he will play out of position on the wing.
"I think 'Cub' is a natural fullback but he has the potential to do freakish things no matter where he plays on the field," Chapman said.
"He's really thrived since he came to CYMS. He was given an opportunity to play first grade and he's just kept taking his football to the next level and to play with him for Western Division is probably something neither of us expected would happen so it will be a big thrill."
Pellow's rise to representative football has also been swift, as he has thrived under CYMS coach Tim Ryan.
A switch from the outside backs to five-eighth for CYMS has taken his game to a new level.
"Tim pushes all of us pretty hard and we probably curse him a bit at training but he sees something in blokes and gets it out of them," Chapman said.
"Colby had never played in the halves before this season but Tim shifted him to five-eighth and now he's playing halfback for Western Division.
"He's a bit like 'Cub'. You can put him anywhere and he's freakish enough that he can just turn a game in the blink of an eye."
The final member of the CYMS quartet is Grey, who will play on the wing outside Chapman and brings some experience to their side of the field.
"John is a bloke that has so much experience, having been at Manly and then coming back and being a coach at Macquarie for a while," Chapman said.
"Since he came to CYMS last year he's been one of our best players. He pushes the other boys and is a great communicator on the field and we've all become really good mates
"I think you play your best footy when you're playing with your mates, so that's why I'm so excited about being in this squad."
