Coach Mick Daly admits up to 15 players could be missing for today's lineup and the fact they will have no ruckmen at all makes the task of winning at Cowra's Mulyan Oval even more difficult.
Star midfielder Charlie Maher is one of those missing in what Daly describes as "a massive blow" but the coach feels his side is still capable of recording a breakthrough win.
"We always go into matches thinking we can win but we know this is a good opportunity to kick it off," he said.
"We've got a few out but with the team we've got onboard we should be able to get a result."
Last time the two sides met was the closest Dubbo have come to a win this season.
The Demons booted 13 goals that day and were right in the match until the final few minutes as Cowra went on to record a 19-point victory.
With no ruckmen, Daly knows a big part of today's result will come down to whether Cowra big man Blair Holgate plays.
Toby Morgan, Terry Lyons, Struan Pearce and Sean Jackson are just some of the Demons other notable omissions.
"Our biggest barrier is getting a consistent group on the park each week," Daly said.
"We haven't had the same team even twice all year but we'll do what we can do."
Daly said his club has had a good past two weeks at training, with the coach holding an open discussion with players where he gave everyone an opportunity to have their say on the state of the side.
As it is every time Dubbo and Cowra meet, the Popeye Plate will be up for grabs.
In reserve grade action, the Demons will be looking to build on their last result after recording their first win of the season against Mudgee.
The Demons cruised past the Mudgee Black Swans last weekend, winning 18.17 (125) to 4.2 (26) and today meet the Parkes Panthers at Mulyan Oval.
Arand Boog was a standout the win over Mudgee, kicking four goals, while Mick Cooper, Andy Pearson and Charlie Haumono also impressed.
The reserve grade match begins at 11.45am with first bounce in the first grade clash between the Demons and Blue set for 2.30pm.
