Last weekend in Lithgow marked the first time in more than three years a men's hockey team from Dubbo had recorded a win, with the 3-1 victory over Lithgow Zig Zag kickstarting the Lions' season.
Despite the confidence gained in the win over Zig Zag, Matt Waters and his team face a particularly difficult task today with opponents St Pat's currently undefeated and sitting at the top of the ladder.
But after winning on a tricky road trip to Lithgow, key players Samuel Mould and Waters in form and a number of players expected to return to the lineup, the Lions will hold no fear.
In other round four PLH matches this weekend, Zig Zag will look to bounce back from last week's loss when they head to Bathurst to take on Souths.
Lithgow Panthers take on Orange Wanderers while one of Parkes United and Bathurst City will record their first win of the season when the two winless sides meet at Parkes.
The task this weekend is as equally difficult for the Dubbo women's side, the Blue Jays, as they head to today's gala day at Parkes.
The Dubbo side has impressed at stages this season and come off last week's bye in sixth place.
This afternoon they face off against competition powerhouse, Lithgow Panthers.
Panthers are at the top of the table, having only lost once, but with the table as congested as it is, the Blue Jays know an upset win will rocket them up the ladder.
They will again be without Emma Corcoran but in Alex Waters, they have one of the leading strikers in the competition this season, while captain Aimee Davies has been a standout in defence, in front of inspirational goalkeeper Michelle Courtney.
It is shaping up as a bumper day of action at Parkes with the home side getting the day underway when they take on Bathurst Souths at 10.30am.
The Blue Jays then meet the Panthers at 12pm before St Pat's take on Orange Ex-Services at 1.30pm.
The day comes to a close with Bathurst City meeting Orange Confederates.
