During the month of April targeted testing occurred in Dunedoo in partnership with RFW Healthy Kids Bus Stop with Audiologist Robyn Little assisting over the three days.
There were 130 children from preschool to year 12 targeted and tested with 39 requiring follow up.
Some have already seen the ear specialist with us.
The group also received a $500 donation from IGA West Dubbo's Community Chest program and an $800 donation from Dubbo City Council.
Interviews for an Aboriginal Case Worker also concluded and the successful applicant will begin with the team in two weeks.
This is federally funded by the Rural Doctors Network Healthy Ears Better Hearing Better Listening program (HEBHBL).
The full-time HEBHBL audiology position was not filled however we have secure HOH audiologist Robyn Little and audiometrist Gordon Rutter on a permanent part-time basis until the full-time position is filled, beginning on May 14.
Wellington Hear our Heart coordinators Maree Thomas and Leeanne Everett spent the evening of March 13 at the Wellington Quota Art Show as guest speakers.
Quota generously donated part of their proceeds from the exhibition weekend to the Hear our Heart team.
Wellington committee member Leeanne Everett and project manager Kerry Inder attended an Easter Eggstravaganza celebration at Wellington Park, put on by communities for children, also holding a Hear our Heart display. Lucy and Sam went along to enjoy the festivities, luckily Kerry was able to keep Sam under control and he didn't eat too many Easter Eggs.
The Dubbo Hear our Heart committee is proud to announce the part-time employment of Rowena Galway as marketing/liaison officer.
Rowena was originally part of the volunteer founding Hear our Heart committee and will also assist with hearing testing.
Warren school children that were requiring follow-up treatment from the initial hearing test saw Dr Quddusi ENT surgeon only three weeks after screening.
Wellington Public School saw Dr Quddusi only one week after screening. Both Warren and Wellington Learning and Support Teachers came along to support the children and their families which is a fantastic part of our program.
Gilgandra Committee has organised a wool drive in its area where local growers can donate any quantity of wool to Don Macdonald and Co Woolbrokers who will process it and donate all proceeds to Hear our Heart. Phone Rachel and Bruce Kirsop in Gilgandra for more details on 6848 3559.
