A MAN has been arrested after a search of a vehicle near Walgett allegedly turned up the drug ice and drug paraphernalia.

Highway patrol officers stopped the Ford sedan on the Kamillaroi Highway about 4pm Wednesday.
A search of the car revealed what police will allege was 16.5g of ice which officers seized, along with electronic scales, ice pipes and a flick-style knife.
The 40-year-old Wee Waa man was arrested and taken to Walgett Police Station, where he was charged with supplying a prohibited drug, possessing a prohibited drug and possession of a prohibited weapon, ahead of an appearance at Walgett Local Court.
The incident has prompted an appeal from police encouraging members of the community to report suspected drug and criminal activity to their local police station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
