Police attempted to stop a northbound Holden Commodore on the Pacific Highway around 1.30pm on Saturday.
Officers resorted to deploying road spikes, which successfully stopped the vehicle after it hit them near Solitary Islands Way.
Two teenage girls allegedly ran into property off Solitary Islands Way, before being arrested by police a short time later.
During the operation, a 41-year-old police officer sustained a number of injuries after being struck by a police vehicle. He remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.
A Critical Incident Team will now investigate all the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the actions of police.
A 16-year-old girl has been charged with Skye's Law and three other offences relating to the incident.
She will appear before children's court on Sunday, facing charges of driving recklessly and not stopping during police pursuit (Skye's Law), driving a motor vehicle while licence suspended, driving unregisterable Class A motor vehile on the road and driving an uninsured vehicle.
SATURDAY: A police officer is being treated in hospital after being injured during an operation near Coffs Harbour.
Police attempted to stop a car which was travelling north on the Pacific Highway near Emerald Beach about 1.30pm Saturday.
Road spikes were used near Solitary Islands Way, and successfully stopped the car.
The two females who were travelling inside the car ran into property off Solitary Islands Way, before police arrested them a short time later.
They have been taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station and are assisting police with their inquiries.
During the operation, a 41-year-old police officer suffered a number of injuries after being struck by a police vehicle. Conscious and breathing, he has been taken to Coffs Harbour Health Campus for treatment.
An investigation into the matter is now underway, examining the actions of the two females and how the police officer came to be struck by the police vehicle.
