Thirteen-year-old Gemma Lydford was showing at her second Dubbo show and beat up to 20 other young competitors to be named reserve champion in paraders with her heifer Jo Jo.
It was a busy lead-up with the St John's College year eight student making the trek up to Rockhampton to show during 2015 Beef Week. Gemma was also responsible for preparing all of her own equipment from curtains and halters to buckets, stands and boxes.
"It was a pretty busy effort," Gemma said.
"I was pretty happy when I got called up."
Big brother Brenden, 16, also had a successful show coming away with three major awards: champion in junior judging, champion in paraders and overall champion. Red limousin steer Kevin also beat about 30 steers for the title of grand champion.
It was a big weekend for the brother and sister duo who first set up at the show on Thursday afternoon and stayed with their cattle until pack-up on Sunday afternoon.
