DESPITE the weather being cooler the Duck Pond was very pleasant for the 16 Ducks who waddled down for a swim last Sunday.
Hopefully the rest of the flock were treating their partners to a Mother's Day breakfast.
Most swimmers swam well outside their times in the heats of the 25m freestyle and most got to have another swim in the semi-finals.
Ron Everett got a wriggle on in the final and swam a close 0.54 seconds off his time to take the win from David Sparkes (0.74), Judy Walsh (0.82), Greg Salmon (0.84) and Marg Ross (2.04), who were all close on his heels.
Table boss, David Sparkes, who it seems is always lurking near the winners circle, continued his form in the 50m freestyle, touching just -0.25 seconds off his time to take the event from a very disappointed handicapper, John Wherritt, who was a mere 0.36 seconds away from his time.
Roger Mackay came in third, Brian Schloeffel fourth and Peter Smith fifth. It was good to see Peter back in the Duck Pond and as enthusiastic as ever.
David and his swimming partner, 25m winner Ron Everett, both had to be content with a second place in the breaststroke/ breaststroke brace relay behind Ron Soden and Roger Mackay in what was a very close final. Greg Salmon and Judy Walsh touched in third place with Tom Gray and Marg Ross in fourth place and Jo Ross and Ross Tomlins in fifth.
Ron Everett and Tony Wall had the lucky numbers for the morning.
Members are reminded that the annual presentation dinner is on Saturday, May 23. Ron Everett and Louise Taylor are keen to have numbers finalised by Sunday, May 17 and ask that those interested let either of them know if they plan to attend.
It is the Ducks turn to sell the raffle tickets at the RSL Club this Friday night and members are asked to assist with this.
The Dubbo Ducks swim each Sunday at the RSL pool at 9am and always welcome new swimmers so come on down and join in the fun.
