Do you always have a quick one liner for your friends, teachers or family?
Then you are exactly the person that headspace Dubbo wants to hear from as they take applications for their Class Clowns comedy workshop.
Class clowns is Melbourne's International Comedy Festival's development program for young people aged 12 to 25 years, and the workshops are being offered free through headspace Dubbo.
There will be a maximum of 20 people at the Class Clowns workshop, which will be held on May 28 and be attended by a professional comedian.
Headspace Dubbo clinical leader Annie Hartley is sure all the applicants will be a barrel of laughs and is looking forward to the workshop.
"Its going to be a great deal of fun and I'm really looking forward to meeting some characters from Dubbo and surrounding towns," Ms Hartley said.
"You can either apply yourself, or we'd love to hear from some parents or school teachers who have someone in mind they think would be great for the workshop."
The workshop will comprise drama games, group activities, opportunities for improvisation, explore different styles of comedy and performance, and story telling.
All jokes aside, Ms Hartley believes the workshops can be a fantastic way to build self esteem and confidence in kids and young adults.
"Comedy can be very difficult so getting in front of your peers and having a go is a great way to build confidence and help overcome thinks like anxiety and confrontation from hecklers," Ms Hartley said.
"Humour and laughter is a great way to deal with any issues going on in your life and hopefully these workshops can be an outlet for those people and help get them back on track whether that be at school, at work or at home."
The Class Clown workshops are supported by headspace, Triple J and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
Applications are open from now until May 15.
