Orange came out with all guns blazing and their size was an early advantage against a determined Reds outfit.
It proved too much of an obstacle for the Reds and the home team finished the match as winners.
The Reds took about 10 minutes to really settle into the game but as their intensity lifted the defence clearly improved with the boys holding the Orange team out on more than one occasion.
All three of Orange’s first half tries came from line breaks after they capitalised on playing the whistle.
Every player in the team hit the field in the first half with a very strong interchange not having any impact on the Reds’ momentum, showing the boys are really building a tight-knit team unit.
Beau London copped a heavy knock to the knee but showed real spirit to return to the field while Charles Thorne also carried a forearm injury from the first game but put in a Players’ Player performance.
Oliver Stone was a standout at halfback while Dallas Towney had a massive game, pulling up sore too, but also dug deep to give the team inspiration.
Ben Hey, Corey Hyland and hooker Oscar Matthews really stuck it to the bigger Orange pack while Nick Jasprizza put in a textbook front row game, playing both hooker and prop in the match.
Lachie Ryan was again solid this week, as were Lachlan Pobje, Liam Stephens and James Logan.
Will Larkin led the boys as captain and led by example, charging up and defending strong. Buddy Kennedy showed real maturity under fire from the Orange team and was another real standout.
Wingers Edward Foran and Liam Daly got put under pressure all day and never took a backward step while centres Thomas Isbester, Joe Clarke and James Dennis, defended and ran really well with the ball getting very close to breaking through. Once again, Baye Wallace was solid, being tough in defence and handling himself well under a barrage of attacks at fullback.
With a try right on the full-time bell the final score was 32-0 but it again was no reflection on a very physical and passionate game. Well done Reds.
