Representatives from Family and Community Services, Housing NSW, Dubbo City Council and police conducted a doorknock after residents complained about gangs of children with slingshots damaging property and firing at birds which they then kicked and beat to death.
That is a fair amount people, funded by taxpayers or ratepayers, diverted from their main purpose to deal with out-of-control children.
And it is in an area where residents suffered a year-long loss of postal and parcel delivery services because children were attacking the people making deliveries.
The halt in those services was a first in Australia. Residents in the neighbourhood have complained for years about attacks on their homes, verbal abuse and other antisocial behaviour.
The perpetrators cannot be brought to justice - they are too young to be arrested or face court.
Police are hamstrung so kids get away with crime.
Does getting away with it now mean the children will commit offences through life?
Where are the parents and families? Do they know what their kids are doing or where they are?
What about parental responsibility, guidance, control and discipline?
Community members are sick of the situation. Government money and assets are wasted on issues that should not be happening.
The parents should take responsibility - or be made to.
