IT is hoped a workshop attended by local service providers in Dubbo on Friday will increase the interaction between these organisations and people in the community who are in need of care.

The meeting, which was attended by representatives from Carers NSW, Catholic Care NSW, Western Medicare Local, the Nguumambiny Indigenous Corporation, Dubbo Neighbourhood Centre and National Disability Service, will look to distribute a newsletter and calendar outlining what services they can provide to those people suffering an illness.
Western Medicare Local Close the Gap outreach employee Cat Smith is adamant these workshops are integral to ensuring everyone in the community is aware of what services are available for people in need of care.
"These workshops are really valuable to get more exposure about what services are available," Ms Smith said.
"Its important we engage with the indigenous community regarding these services.
"These organisations can really help and offer respite to families."
Ms Smith believes there is often a stigma attached to people who call out for help, but wants everyone in the community to have the confidence and knowledge that it is in no way a sign of weakness and will be the best thing for them, their families and friends.
"Its about giving the people in need of care the confidence to ask for assistance," Ms Smith said.
"There is no shame in asking for help.
"We need people in the community to identify themselves or friends or a family member so we can give them the care they need."
The same organisations from Friday's workshop will get together in late May to assess how interaction is going with the community and what more they can do to offer support.
