Since the start of the year, more than 140 people aged between 12 and 25 have visited Headspace to assist them with mental health issues and other concerns relating to health, education and employment.
Operations manager for Headspace Bathurst and Dubbo, Peter Rohr, believes the service they provide is vitally important to Dubbo and the surrounding area.
“It is very exciting to officially open the doors and get out amongst the community,” Mr Rohr said.
“Headspace is a great place for youths to come and have a chat to someone about what is going on in their lives in a very safe environment.
“Even if you think its a really small issue, it can make a big difference going through it with someone and that is the service we provide.”
Headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation and aims to provide early intervention for mental health and wellbeing issues, which chief operating officer at Headspace, Kathleen Alonso, believes is vital.
“Early intervention is key as you can deal with the issues immediately,” Ms Alonso said.
“The earlier we can assist people the better it is.”
Mr Rohr moved to thank everyone who has contributed to Headspace to make it such an integral part of the community.
Headspace Dubbo is located at 23 Church Street, and is open Monday to Friday, with later opening hours on Thursday.
