The former Albury Thunder prop is yet to play a game with the two blues, and will arrive at Orange on Friday ahead of the club's third round clash with Cowra on Sunday.
The prop is a Red Bend, Forbes, graduate and has been a key member of a Thunder pack that led the boarder club to three-straight Group Nine premierships in 2012-13-14. Davis earned man of the match honours in Albury's 30-20 grand final victory over Gundagai in the second of the three titles.
Davis is one of two Hawks named in Osborne's 24-strong squad, with former NSW Country Bulls winger Cody Robbins joining Tim Bassmann, Kyran Bubb and Ben McAlpine from CYMS as Orange's hopes of making the Group 10 side that'll play Group 11 on Saturday, May 2.
"I coached Mitch in Western Rams under-18s before he went down to Penrith... I heard he was coming back to Hawks and being one of the premier props in Country NSW, we'd be silly not to include him," Osborne said.
"It's the same as always; we've picked the guys that have been good to the Group over the years.
"And where players are unavailable, we've picked others to fill those holes."
Group 10 will play a representative Castlereagh Cup outfit for 40 minutes during the trials before backing up for a 60-minute match, split into 30-minute halves, against the Group 11 side.
Officials are also looking at reducing the interchange rules to as low as five for the Group 11 and Group 10 game.
Osborne said with the change of rules for the one-off clash, he'd have to look closely at who he carries in his final 18-man squad.
