The annual celebration of young people aged 12 to 25 was launched at the Macquarie Street graffiti wall on Friday, April 10, with this year's theme - It Starts with Us.
"It's a fantastic opportunity for teenagers and young people across the city to have some fun in a drug and alcohol free environment," Leticia said.
It was especially good to "have opportunities you don't get the rest of the year," she said.
Free activities throughout Youth Week are designed to encourage young people across the city to express themselves in a safe and positive environment, and include the Loud @ the Library talent show, clay target shooting and three-a-side basketball.
The Cinema Under the Stars showing of How to Train Your Dragon 2 will be an activity the entire family can enjoy.
"Events are set to capture the eyes of all different youth, all different personalities," Leticia said.
"It gives us a way to express who we are in a positive environment."
Many of the activities are also targeted at encouraging young people to engage with local organisations, such as Headspace and Mission Australia, that are a huge asset in supporting and developing the lives of young people, she said.
