LAST Wednesday M. J. Duffey and Sons sponsored fourball aggregate stableford attracted 105 golfers. This event is the last competition that the Easter golf participants have to fin-tune their game. Visitors were welcomed from Darling River and Gunnedah.

An excellent scratch score of 3 under par in the fourball gave low markers Grahame Allan and David Gleeson a net result of 78 points to win the event by 1 Stableford point from Gary Kennedy and Brian Ledsham 77 nett. Peter Allan's 41 points won the individual event edging out Phillip Read also 41 points losing on a countback.
Pat Wilson cleaned out the Eagles nest with a 2 on the par 4 14th hole. Balls went to 72 on a countback. Nearest to the pin winners were 11th Matthew Gleeson 36cm, 15th Daniel Brock 227cm, 18th Peter Laffey 282cm, 23rd Alex McCormack 22cm, 26th Peter Tracey 120 cm.

Friday's Easter Fourball welcomed visitors from 17 different clubs. With 192 teeing off in the 4BBB Stableford event.
Patrick Wilson and Ross Horrocks had a combined scratch result of 45 points - 7 birdies, an eagle and 10 pars to take out the event from Robert Payne and Shane Stanley whose round consisted of 8 birdies and 10 pars.
Paul Ensor and Tim Beatty came to the fore with 53 Stableford points to win the handicap section on a countback from David McKittrick and Shane Morris. In the ball competition 46 on a countback won a ball. Nearest the pin winners: 5th Robert Cheney 78cm, 8th Peter McQuillan 210cm, 23rd Peter Bray 73cm, 26th Duncan Sutherland 125cm.
Nineteen ladies contested the nine hole fourball event with Kirsty Thys and Kate Allen's 23 points winning the event from Maureen Dempsey and Val Coggan on 22 points defeating Deb Murray and Sally McGrath on a countback.

The time-honoured Easter Rosebowl scratch event for lady golfers was contested on Saturday under very difficult conditions with testing pin placements and drizzling rain.
Jan Gibson finished the day with 86 off the stick, a clear three-shot win over Deb Murray in second place (89) beating Paula Murray on a countback.
Teeing off on the 10th hole Jan had a great par, birdie start, to play her first nine holes in 40 shots and finished strongly to play the last five holes (5 to 9) one-over par to complete the second nine in 46.
Handicap winner was Jenny Ivers (18) with 72 nett. Runner-up Paula Murray (13) had 76 nett. Nearest the pin winners: 5th Jan Gibson 270cm,18th Amy Anson 532cm.
