The Australian Red Cross Blood Service requires at least 65 "good eggs" from Dubbo to boost vital blood supplies over the Easter long weekend.
Spokesperson, Erin Clarke, said the donations were essential between Thursday, April 2 to Thursday, April 9 to ensure hospitals had enough stock of the shortest-lived blood product, platelets.
"Platelets are tiny disc-shaped cells found in blood and only last five days," she said.
Their short lifespan means the platelets are unable to be stockpiled. Platelets are vital to the treatment of cancer patients.
"That's why we are urging at least 65 residents to donate and help a patient in need spend Easter with their loved ones," Ms Clarke said.
"The need for blood never stops and every donation will help save three lives.
"Sixteen-year-old Liesl Fretwell was one of the first to step forward as a "good egg" on Monday, making her first ever blood donation.

"I just saw it as a way of helping others who needed it," she said.
Liesl said she hoped to become a regular donor.
