After going down to the Sutherland Sharks on Saturday, the Rams made the trip to Blaxland on Sunday and defeated the Springwood Scorchers.
The Ram were competitive in the opening two rounds of the competition but ultimately lost to Lithgow and Wagga and after Sunday's win captain Dan Medway admitted it was a pleasing result.
"At the start of the season we said we wanted to be on track and be competing by halfway through the year," he said. "It's not quite halfway yet so I definitely think there's a few more wins in front of us."
The performance of Luke Griffiths was the catalyst for Sunday's win with the big man recording a 30-point game.
Griffiths, son of coach Dubbo Tim Griffiths, has come back to basketball in Dubbo this year and Medway admits his presence has made a difference.
"He's well coached and just really knows what he is talking about and he's played at a high level," he said.
"He's been really helpful for our younger players too."
Medway said much like the opening two rounds, Dubbo were competitive when they came up against Sutherland but ultimately couldn't get across the line.
Against the professional and well-drilled Sutherland outfit the Rams won two quarters before eventually going down.
"They played pretty hard in defence and we struggled with that a bit and they were just a bit more advanced," he said. "They've been together a few years so they're pretty tough to beat but we were competitive."
Medway said his side improved each quarter during the Sutherland game and that momentum continued on Sunday when they came up against the Scorchers.
Dubbo led at every break and despite the Scorchers posting a late comeback the Rams hung on for their first win of the year.
"It was a close one against Springwood, we led most of the way but by the end of the third quarter we were neck and neck," Medway said. "But we regrouped and got the win. It was good, we feel we've come together so it was good to get that win and show we're on the right track."
The Rams next match is a home game against the Queanbeyan Yowies on April 11.
