Ed Halmagyi is best known for his cooking segment on Better Homes and Gardens but at the weekend he was showing budding chefs some tricks of the trade.
"It's basically a barbecue cooking class to teach people all the things you can do with a good quality barbecue," he said.
"It's really about teaching about food, so food history and nutrition."
His recipes on the day included a range from a traditional roast, to bread cooked on the barbecue.
Janet Curran who attended the DIY workshop said she was very impressed.
"He's very down to earth. He does recipes you and I can do at home so it appeals to the average cook," she said.
Michelle Powell was the lucky winner of the day, walking away from the event with the barbecue used by Fast Ed.
Bunnings activities manager Amanda Barlow said he was lovely to have in the store and the food amazing.
