HE may be one of the most unheralded players in this weekend's Whitney Cup final but a big impact in the decider could be just the start of an exciting time for RSL-Colts' Sean Mason.

Mason looks all set to take the new ball for the minor premiers against Newtown at No. 1 Oval but the grand final is just the first of a number of big occasions coming up for the 18-year-old.
In just two weeks' time Mason will jet off for England as part of RSL-Colts' exchange program and he will spend the English summer playing for Huddersfield League 2 side, Kirkeaton.
The deceiving swing bowler, often overshadowed by the likes of Tim and Greg Buckley, has been a revelation for Colts this season and even Mason himself can not believe the impact he has had.
"I definitely didn't expect something like this, I think my cricket has developed a fair bit this season," he said.
"At the start of the season I could just about see myself in seconds but I've developed a bit, trained hard and worked hard and it's got me to here."

After improving so much during the 2014-15 season, Mason was chosen as the player to go and play in England.
Mason admits it's a huge opportunity to improve his cricket further and as an opening bowler he unsurprisingly is looking forward to the chance to bowl in English conditions.
"Looking forward to it a lot, Tim Cox rang me a couple of weeks ago and offered me the opportunity and I definitely took it," he said, before speaking about what he expected from the cricket in England.
"Something similar to here, hopefully the competition is good.
"I've told the pitches are quite different so looking forward to that and hopefully I can get a bit more out of those pitches."
Mason credited the likes of Cox, Jason Ryan and especially captain Chris Morton for the way he has come on this season.
Last time Colts met today's grand final opponents Mason claimed three early wickets and was a huge part of his side's convincing 144-run win.
Mason is again looking forward to the battle with the Newtown batting lineup and claimed the wickets of Skinner brothers Mat and Steve are the ones he is targeting.
"I'm pretty keen, there will be a bit of pressure early on, they've got a good top four or five," he said.
"I especially love bowling to the two left-handers, it helps my style of bowling a bit."
While Colts possess a core of players who have won multiple Whitney Cups, Mason is a relative newcomer.
Despite never playing on the penultimate day of the season before, the young quick is determined to play a part this weekend.
"It would be great, I've never played in a Whitney Cup final, we missed out last year and the year before I'd only just stared playing a bit of first grade and didn't play in the final so I'd really like to win this," he said.
