All students gained selection after strong performances at the Western CHS carnival earlier this year and began competition at Sydney yesterday, with events continuing today.
Students in the squad include Sharnia Dimmock, Carly Andrews, Matilda Munn and Connor Stewart from Senior Campus, Robert Betts and Shenaye Moses-Bird from Delroy Campus.
South Campus is represented by Darcy Wood, Jayden Blake, Toby Stewart, Matilda Irvine, Billy Munn, Olivia Watmore, James Murphy, Ned Manton, Tyler Edwards, Jordan Fuller, Martha Munn, Holly Keizer, Ava Medley, Eliza Vail, Maddie Fernando, Tara Williamson, Meg Keizer, Juliet Furner, Kelsey Rowe, Emma Blake and Angus Woods.
Delroy students Betts and Moses-Bird are looking forward to competing at the carnival.
Year 9 student Robert has been swimming for seven years and is a regular with Dubbo City Swimtech.
The 14-year-old favours freestyle and backstroke and is set to compete for the second time at state level.
Robert will compete in the backstroke leg of the 200m IM relay, the 200m freestyle relay, the 12-man relay and the 50m freestyle.
This week will represent Shenaye's first state competition, with the Dubbo RSL swimmer set to compete in the 50m and 100m freestyle, the 100m backstroke and the 200m freestyle relay.
Dubbo College sports coordinator Bec May said the majority of the squad have previously competed at state level.
"All these students are committed well-disciplined swimmers who participate in local clubs and regularly attend carnivals," she said.
"They are self-motivated and used to setting goals and working hard to achieve them.
"Some of our older students like Sharnia Dimmock, Carly Andrews and Matilda Munn will be out to impress in their final opportunity to swim for the college.
"They are strong swimmers and know what's involved so I would anticipate some good results."
