The review, undertaken by SGL Consulting in December, highlighted the positives and negatives of the showground, before suggesting improvements.
The recommendations include reviewing and enhancing the booking process to make it more user friendly, setting fees for hire of the showground at comparable market rates, enhancing marketing to win new business and targeting equestrian events.
Finance and Policy Committee chair John Walkom said the review found Dubbo Showground is a major economic generator for Dubbo.
"It has one of the best pavilions in Western NSW and is well regarded by users for its flexibility and as the only venue in Dubbo capable of hosting functions which seat more than 600 people," he said.
"Its central location in the city centre is another significant benefit with many motels and complementary services in easy walking distance."
Cr Walkom said the report shows Dubbo Showground is regarded as one of the best in NSW.
"By implementing the outcomes of the review council can ensure it remains a viable and valuable asset in terms of the service it provides and the economic activity it generates for the city," he said.
Dubbo City Council will consider the recommendations at the ordinary meeting of council on March 23.
