The Rabbitohs showed the kind of form which will make them Group 11 league tag frontrunners this season as they brushed aside home side Canowindra 30-0 in round two.
Unfortunately a 16-8 round one loss to Orange Hawks meant they did not qualify for the semi-finals.
The form of Orange CYMS was the highlight of the day as they dominated the competition, never letting an opposition team reach double figures in any of their four matches.
They toppled Forbes 18-0 and Grenfell 10-4 in the pool matches before beating Lithgow 19-0 in the semi-final.
CYMS were tested in the grand final by Bathurst St Pat's but the Orange ladies were too good winning 16-8.
CYMS captain-coach Mandy Moore was understandably happy with her team's first hit out for the year.
"They were really composed, no stress, really calm on the field," Moore said of the side.
The whole day at Canowindra's Tom Clyburn Oval was played at a high level but St Pat's player Nicole Schneider was crowned Most Valuable Player after the final.
Westside return to Dubbo with their eye on the upcoming Group 11 season, with 2015 seeing league tag join the competition for the first time.
The sport has become a huge hit all over the central west with Group 11 and the Woodbridge Cup having run successful competitions for a number of years.
Fans in Dubbo and surrounding areas will get to see the action for the first time this year with Group 11 and the Castlereagh League both introducing a league tag competition.
