Dubbo drivers are being issued less parking fines than their Bathurst and Orange counterparts, according to the Office of State Revenue.
Between July and December 2014, Dubbo City Council issued fines for 614 parking offences, while Bathurst Regional Council and Orange City Council issued 811 and 2916 notices, respectively.
In revenue terms, the fines raised only $70,464 for Dubbo City Council from July to December, compared with $113,205 at Bathurst and $331,251 at Orange for the same period.
The overall number of parking offences at Dubbo has also dropped in recent years.
Dubbo City Council issued about 2500 notices each financial year between July 2010 and June 2013, but this number plummeted to only 1776 in 2013-14.
While this is good news for the region's motorists, it is not so good for the council's coffers, with council seeing a $76,867 drop in parking fine revenue from 2012-13 to 2013-14.
"There is no one specific reason for the reduction in the number of penalty infringement notices," Dubbo City Council traffic engineer Dennis Valantine, said
"However, the retirement of one of council's parking patrol officers has no doubt impacted on numbers," he said.
"Council is taking steps to ensure the parking patrol officers branch is returned to full capacity in due course."
