The first piece of silverware for the 2014-15 season is up for grabs and despite Newtown finishing the season as minor premiers, Journeymen captain Chris Morton believes his side is going into the match as the form team.
"We've played nearly every Friday night for the last month or so, we've got the form on the board so they've got to match us," he said.
"It's been a benefit for while they've got to come from two day cricket in Twenty20 mode and that's not an easy thing to do."
While Morton claims his side will be favourites Newtown captain Mat Skinner is also on the front foot and says confidence is high in his squad after defeating the Journeymen earlier in the season and not tasting defeat in the Megahit since round two back in early November.
"The boys are feeling good and we're confident," Skinner said.
"Winning the minor premiership gives you confidence in your team and also your ability and we know we can beat them because we did earlier in the season."
Skinner said a big positive for his side was the way they had won a number of tight matches this season.
On their way to the decider the Tigers had a 14-run win over Friday night's opponent, an eight-run win over Christies Crackerjacks and an 18-run win over CYMS in a match in which they only scored 103 from their 20 overs.
Skinner believes that fighting spirit will be key on?Friday against a Journeymen team which has the ability to stamp their authority on a match.
"It's been really good, we've been in trouble at different times but we've brought it back and that's a good sign because some sides can give it away but we fought and won some sneaky games we probably shouldn't have," he said.
"At some stages there will always be decent partnerships so it's up to us to come back, especially with the batting line-up they've got but we've just got to keep on fighting and keep the pressure on."
Morton highlighted Skinner brothers Mat and Steve as the big danger on Friday night with the pair being two of the best performers with both bat and ball this season.
The Journeymen's own all-rounder, Greg Buckley, has been one of the stars of this season's Megahit but Morton said there was more to his side than just the talented Englishman.
The Journeymen skipper added he expected a tight match but after being tested by the Crackerjacks in last week's semi-final, believed his side was well prepared.
"We've had a few easy wins the last few games so it was good to get that game last week which was a challenge," he said.
"There were a few walkovers before that so it was good to get a few different blokes in form at the right time, we showed we're not just Greg Buckley."
After missing out on Megahit finals in recent seasons, Morton said his squad was determined to claim the title on Friday night.
"It's definitely something we aim to win, it's not just a hit and giggle for us," Morton said.
"We've had a few disappointing years and have only won this once in four years I think so we're not just here to make up the numbers."
Skinner said his side was also well up for Friday's match and was hoping it would be the first of two grand final appearances this seasons.
"It would be huge for us and it would be a massive confidence boost leading into the Whitney Cup finals with a premiership already under our belts," he said.
Friday's grand final match begins at 6.30pm.
