By NICK GUTHRIE
GEURIE trainer Jeanette Foley has had many talented dogs in her time and two of her current leading runners impressed yesterday at Dawson Park.
The Foley-trained Kaiser King produced a stirring comeback win in the $1010 Bet To Win Stakes (400m) with kennelmate Tinker King finishing third.
After training dogs which have run in big races at tracks like Wentworth Park and Newcastle, Foley admits it might be time for Kaiser King to step up.
"We'll probably come back next week if there's a race for him but it's hard to get a run for him because everything is in the top grade now and it gets harder going through the grades but we're very happy," she said.
Starting from box one, Kaiser King jumped out behind early leader Suzi Cargo ($2.90) before Bow Dandie ($30.50) took to the front.
The Paul Braddon-trained Bow Dandie led alongside Suzi Cargo going towards the bend for home but once they approached the bend the pair went wide, letting the rest of the field back in the race.
Kaiser King ($4.50) had the perfect run on the inside and charged down the home straight and claim victory.
Suzi Cargo overcame the wide run to come back and finish second for trainer Ron Steel while Tinker King ($16.90) stole third.
"He normally doesn't win out of the one box but he did today so that's really good," Foley said of Kaiser King.
"He really put in there so it was pleasing. I thought he might run a place and not really sure what happened but he got through and that was the main thing."
"Tinker King likes inside draws and got a couple of checks early and that's enough to put him off but he came back to run third."
In the earlier race, Sheza Good Girl built on last week's impressive heat win in the Unibet 0-2 Wins Stakes (516m) to win the final.
It was an impressive win from the black bitch but was also incredibly simple as she jumped well and led from start to finish.
Jumping from box one, Sheza Good Girl ($2 favourite) had immediately formed a two length lead by the first bend and that's the way it stayed for the remainder of the race.
Firebee ($5.60) threatened to take it to Sheza A Good Girl for a moment but didn't have enough pace and finished two-and-half-lengths back in second while Irinka Grant ($5.80) was third.
The win makes it four from 20 career starts for trainer Robert Ingram.
