Former St John's College student Kate Loudon was nominated for the NSW/ACT Young Achievers Awards in the AustralianSuper Career Kick Start Award category in late 2014 with the winner to be announced later this month.
The end of the award judging process is coinciding with the start of Kate's university career at Charles Sturt University (CSU) Wagga Wagga campus studying a Bachelor of Agricultural Science.
Kate's passion for the beef industry developed at St John's College as part of the schools livestock exhibition team.
Her enthusiasm for the beef industry has lead the now 18-year-old to begin her own limousin stud of 12 cattle on the acreage her family owns at the tender age of 16.
" A lot of them can't believe I could do it because of the costs and time involved," Kate said.
"At school most of out steers were limousin and I fell in love with the breed."
Kate's passion for the beef industry was not unnoticed before her nomination at the NSW/ACT Young Achievers Awards receiving the St John's College Primary Industry Award and the Trish Graham Achiever of the year.
Kate will attend the NSW/ACT Young Achiever Awards gala dinner in Sydney on March 21.
" I am really grateful for the privileged to be in the top three and be a finalist," she said.
The other finalists in the AustralianSuper Career Kick Start Award category of the awards come from diverse backgrounds.
"It is interesting to see how they have succeeded in different areas," Kate said.
"It will be interesting to see what the judges think."
