Shortly before 10pm on Thursday a female store attendant at the Dominos pizza outlet in Erskine Street handed over cash after she was threatened by man wielding a knife.
The assailant is then alleged to have then threatened a male outside the store before fleeing the scene on foot.
The frightening armed hold-up was the second in just more than 24 hours.
On Wednesday a 19-year-old female shop attendant was forced to hand over more than $500 after she was confronted by a man wielding a knife at the Cobra Street BP service station about 7pm.
Police sniffer dogs were brought in after the man was reported by witnesses fleeing south along Fitzroy Street.
Detectives are reviewing CCTV footage from both stores and neighbouring business but to date have played down suggestions those responsible had targeted small businesses with lone female employees.
A Dominos spokesperson has confirmed more than one staff member was present during Thursday night's hold-up, and while those involved were understandably shaken, nobody was injured.
"We take the safety and welfare of our staff very seriously," a spokesperson said.
Inspector Mitchell Croyston from Orana Local Area Command said detectives were yet to uncover any links between the two incidents at this stage, however they have issued a public plea for anybody with information into either hold-up to come forward to assist with their investigation.
