St Laurence’s Aboriginal education worker, Adam Peckham, co-ordinated the event after a similar successful workshop held for students in November 2014.
Mr Peckham said the workshop was directed towards year 5 and 6 students in order build their leadership skills.
“We want the students to be able to learn and grow,” Mr Peckham said.
Along with mentors Ronny Gibbs, Ben Austin, Sarah Horsburgh, Josh Toomey and parish priest, Father Joshy, Mr Peckham said the students would take part in six different activities.
“We want to show them the skills of team building, problem solving, goal setting and decision making,” Mr Peckham said.
The decision to expand the workshop came from the success of the previous one.
“The students really got a lot of out it,” Mr Peckham said.
“I think it’s a great initiative.”
Mr Peckham said the support he had received from the teachers and mentors was what contributed to the day’s success.
“Their commitment has really helped lay the platform for this workshop down,” he said.
