THERE were three days of action last week involving Dubbo Pistol Club members, both at home and away.

The action started on Thursday night when six members, keen to stay out the daytime heat, shot air pistol.
And the results were very close indeed.
Richard Wheatley scored the win by two points over Helen Lord with Martin Cook in third, three points behind Lord. Top-class shooting.

On Sunday 17 members lined up to compete in the three matches available.
Sports pistol attracted the day's largest field of 11.
The winner of the match was Clinton Towers who shot a personal best score and blasted his handicap to the tune of 139 points. Second place went to Warren Johnson who was just off his personal best with Craig Hyland coming home third, three points behind.

Next up was the centrefire match in which Peter Welch 347, 118, 35; scored a victory over Phillip Lovemore 294, 224, 518.
The black powder match attracted four entries with Ray Johnson 182, 121, 303; winning the match ahead of John Cohen 49, 200, 249; second, and Brian McMullen 148, TBH, 148; third. Jim Strachan got in some valuable practice as well.
There was also action away as three Dubbo members competed in the Safari Firearms open at Gulgong Pistol Club.
The two days of competition included WA1500 revolver, WA1500 pistol, 25-yard service, service pistol and unrestricted service pistol. Paul Williamson, Bob Dowling and Steve Holmes all represented the club well. Congratulations to those members.
There has been plenty of practice happening during the week as many members ramp up their training for the upcoming national championships being held in Adelaide at Easter.
This Sunday's matches will include centrefire/sports pistol, black powder, and the service/WA1500 matches, which will start early.
