Students from Macquarie Anglican Grammar, St John's College, Dubbo College Senior Campus and the Dubbo Christian School took part in the program, run by the University of Western Sydney's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Aspirations Program.
The year 11 and 12 students met with members from the Lands Council and participated in educational workshops at Victoria Park.
UWS senior project officer, Jarred Hodges said the program's aim was to improve Indigenous Australians and Torres Strait Islander students' leadership and cultural development.
"We hope to improve tertiary outcomes by getting them to think about attending university and help them to connect back to their culture.
"We want to help them achieve their dreams."
Dubbo Christian School student, Shari Gibbs, 17, hopes to attend University in Sydney once she finishes high school and study policing.
"The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Aspirations Program allows me to get the right support and information," she said.
Ms Gibbs said she would like to come back to the Dubbo area after finishing her tertiary studies.
"I want to be a role model for my family and community," she said.
