8.30am: Nominations for membership of the Dubbo Public Art Committee are open until March 20 for two community representatives.
The Dubbo Public Art Committee will be responsible for providing advice to the General Manager of Dubbo City Council regarding the provision of public art in the city.
Nomination forms are available from the DCC Civic Administration Building or online here.
8.20am: Come and meet the bestselling author of this Aussie romantic comedy Rose River at either the Dubbo or Wellington Libraries.
Margaret Osborn will hold an author talk at the Wellington Branch of the Macquarie Regional Library on Thursday, March 5 at noon, and a talk at the Dubbo branch at 5.30pm on Thursday, March 5.
Rose River is a funny, romantic comedy set in the beautiful Australian outback.

8.15am: We have some great praise for the people of Dubbo this morning, with travellers Terry and Suzanne McWhinney thanking the community after residents and businesses came to their aid.
The couples car broke down outside of town and in 44-degree heat Suzanne laboured up a hill 10 kilometres south of Dubbo in search of mobile phone reception.

Yesterday Dubbo’s new Headspace group headed along to the market day to catch up with a few students. It’s a great group to get behind.

► ORANGE: Ryan Bradley Paget, the man who was caught by police in Burrendong Way in October last year with explosives and drugs in his car, has lodged an appeal to be released from jail. Paget, 35, who was living at Liverpool at the time of the offences, will have his appeal heard at the Downing Centre District Court on March 18.
► BATHURST: Bathurst's Fire and Rescue NSW firefighters will soon be wearing cutting-edge helmets with built-in radio technology and lighting as part of a statewide rollout. The firefighting helmets will give the state’s 6800 firefighters greater protection and clearer communications at emergencies.
► MUDGEE: Nationals, Country Labor and Greens candidates for the Upper Hunter have supported calls for The Drip to become part of the Goulburn River National Park.
► OAK FLATS: An abusive husband who threatened to "kick in" his de facto wife's teeth before he head-butted her in front of their three children has admitted in court the violent outburst was a "dog act". Jason Fittler knew assaulting the mother of his children was wrong, but the 31-year-old said he became "frustrated" with her on the afternoon of November 24 when he claimed she called him "an idiot". It was a cutting remark for Fittler, a dyslexic, who had been made redundant from his job as a pipe re-liner.
► TAMWORTH: A hang-gliding competitor involved in a terrifying mid-air collision near Manilla last week says it’s too early to contemplate whether he’d want to fly again. “I don’t want to think about it – I just want to get better,” said Andrew Morgan from his bed in Tamworth hospital. Mr Morgan, 50, received a compound fracture to his left leg which will be operated on in order to brace it
7.35am: This morning the Mayor of Dubbo will officially open the new and expanded sheep yards at the Dubbo Regional Livestock Markets.
The upgraded yards cater for an additional 9,000 head in selling pens as well as upgrades to infrastructure.
Dubbo City Councillors and Executive staff, Dubbo Stock and Station Agents Association and contractors will all attend the event.
It's such a large project for the region to benefit from.
This won't be the only expansion a the markets, with more upgrades in store.
7.25am: Taking a look at your local news this morning....
► While some regional cities have thrown hundreds of thousands of dollars at NRL clubs in a bid to get them to bring games over the Blue Mountains, Dubbo City Council has signalled its intention not to bankroll such deals. Just days after missing out on hosting a game between the Manly Sea Eagles and Canberra Raiders on April 4, councillors discussed writing to Manly and the NRL to express their disappointment at Albury being chosen instead.
► Dubbo is on track to get its first connections to the National Broadband Network to existing houses by the middle of 2015, Mayor Mathew Dickerson told council on Monday night. While NBN Co is remaining non-committal on when connections will be made, councillor Dickerson said a recent meeting with the NBN Co's Darren Rudd indicated to him that plans are still on track.
► Work began last week concreting the canteen area at Pioneer Park in Wellington thanks to a $15,000 grant under the Community Building Partnerships program.
► Students at Narromine Public School have experienced a serious overhaul of their canteen during the past couple of years and it has finally reaped the rewards. Recently it was awarded the Australian School Canteen Association (ASCA)'s 5 Star Accreditation.
► Vandals have struck Narromine forcing the removal the less-than-six-month-old garden around the Derribong Street heavy vehicle parking area. Narromine Mayor Bill McAnally said vandals pulled plants from the garden and left them, forcing council to remove the plants and replace them with new plants and turf.
