Dubbo City Council's recreation programs and planning manager Tracey Whillock said all associations and clubs should attend in order to learn about the issues important to sporting groups in the region.
"The sports council functions to act as a conduit between Dubbo City Council and sport groups in the community and vice versa," she said.
"The meetings are a forum for sharing ideas, networking and receiving important updates on legislature, governance and how best to incorporate them into your organisation."
With the new committee in place, Ms Whillock said the sports council was keen to take a more strategic direction moving forward.
"It is important to have plans in place to achieve whatever your clubs wish-list may be," she said.
"The Barden Park development is a perfect example of what can be achieved with strategic planning. The park serves as proof that dreams can become a reality."
