Edwards arrived at Dubbo recently and he and his wife were welcomed to the Paramount club with a barbecue on Tuesday night.
He will start work in his new head coach's role imminently and Campbell admitted he can't wait to see what Edwards brings to the courts.
"The whole club is excited to have a new face and the opportunity to hear new ideas," Campbell said.
"To bring someone of his profile to the western region is a huge boost."
Edwards admitted it will be something brand new for him after coaching at the Eastbourne club in England for close to the past 20 years but said he already had a good feeling about the role after meeting a number of committee members.
He arrives in Dubbo to replace former Paramount head coach Paul Fitzgerald, who left midway through last year.
Lyndall Murray and Wayne Dunlop have been filling in as coaches since Fitzgerald's departure and Edwards was full of praise for those who have come before him.
"Paul did a great job for the 20 or so years he was here and Lyndall and Wayne did well in holding the fort until I arrived," he said.
"That was another big drawcard, to walk into something which is already pretty successful in terms of the business and the numbers, there's about 160 kids playing and I've seen the courts all busy so I'm really looking forward to building on that."
As a coach who has led junior teams to national titles in England, including four junior girls titles in six years, Edwards knows what it takes to develop players for the highest level.
That ability to help players reach their potential is something Edwards is keen to use in Dubbo and the western region.
"Hopefully we can bring on some young players to play at state or national level," he said.
"And with the adults here it's about getting new people involved and with the existing players just healing them correct a few things in their game so they can become better players."
Campbell agreed that junior development was a key area of focus for Edwards and the whole club as it had been missing from Paramount in recent times.
"The one thing is we've got to get the juniors going, it's been a bit of a black hole for us the last three or four years and we hope Matt can help build the numbers up."
In other Paramount Tennis Club news, the annual general meeting will be held this weekend.
Campbell admitted he will be president again, fulfilling the required three years as per the club's charter, while he said Paramount is always looking for new members to join the board and bring fresh ideas to the club.
