Child Abuse Squad detectives have charged a man with the alleged indecent and aggravated sexual assault of a teenage girl in Walgett.

Police started investigations after a 14-year-old girl reported being sexually assaulted by a man at a Walgett address on Wednesday, January 21.
A 25-year-old man, who was known to the girl, was arrested the same day and questioned by detectives from the Child Abuse Squad.
He was subsequently charged with aggravated sexual assault - victim under the age of 16 years; and indecent assault person under 16 years of age.
The man faced Walgett Local Court the following day on Thursday, where bail was refused.
He is due to re-appear in the same court on Tuesday, March 24.
The Child Abuse Squad is comprised of detectives who are specially trained to investigate crimes against children, including sexual assault, physical abuse and serious cases of neglect. The squad works in partnership with the Department of Family and Community Services and NSW Health, with specialised tri-agency teams based at metropolitan and regional locations throughout NSW.
