Jack Wallbridge, Georgie Conway and Jessica Curtin competed at the NSW 10 to 12 years State Championships while Mitchell Bebbington competed the following week at the NSW 13 to 18 years State Championships. Both meets were held at Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre .
It was Jack's first appearance at a meet of this level, having qualified for the 11 years Boys' 50m freestyle at a Coonamble carnival in November 2014.
Jack worked hard on his speed and technique for the event, hoping to achieve a new personal best time as well as gain valuable experience against quality junior swimmers from across the state. His final time was 32.88 seconds.
Following on from her success in the 2013-14 season, Georgie contested the 12 years Girls' 50m freestyle and 100m breaststroke events.
Aiming at breaking the 30-second barrier in the 50m freestyle, Georgie spent long hours training in the pool during the past few weeks in preparation for the competition.
The hard work paid off as Georgie just missed her goal with a time of 30.47s in the 50m freestyle. She backed up that performance with a solid 1.28.46 in the 100m breaststroke.
Also a first-time state qualifier, Jessica was excited to contest the 12-years Girls' 50m freestyle at such an important event.
Despite having improved her personal best time for this event several times during the season so far, Jessica fell just short of sub-30 second goal at the State Championships with a final time of 30.64s.
Following his success at the 10-12 years State Championships in 2014, Mitchell competed for the first time at the 13 to 18 years age bracket, qualifying for both the 100m and 200m breastroke events.
Keen to improve his personal best times in both events and edge closer to national qualification, Mitchell's final times were 1.21.69 for 100m and 2.57.00 for 200m.
