The season gets under way in less than a fortnight with the first round of the Dubbo Championship acting as a warm-up for three massive races in March.
Dubbo's Lincoln County Raceway has been chosen to host the opening round of the Southern Star regional series, followed by round two of the Rotex Pro Tour and then the Australian Endurance Karting Series.
"We have some really big races coming up that are great for the club so we are encouraging our members to come out on February 8 and use that round to get ready for those big races," DKC secretary Cheree Everingham said.
It also presents an opportunity for those from outside of Dubbo to come and get an understanding of the track before the country and national level events.
Ms Everingham is expecting 150 drivers for the Southern Star series on March 14 and 15 including a large contingent of Dubbo karters. More than 200 are expected for the Pro Tour event on March 20-22 while 120 will take part in the challenging endurance series on March 28-29.
It's not just drivers coming to Dubbo either. At the weekend four Dubbo drivers went away to compete at major events.
Katie Everingham and Hannah Tailby travelled to Lithgow where they took part in the Ladies Weekend National Trophy while Tyler Everingham and Dean O'Brien travelled to Melbourne for the Pro Tour National Series, where there were more than 230 competitors.
The Dubbo club was very happy with the growth in the sport but they would also welcome more members and Ms Everingham said it was a great sport to get involved in.
"It would be good to have more members. We are in the process of establishing some come and try days, which are an opportunity for people to have a go before they make any commitment," she said.
"It's like any form of motor sport. There are set-up costs but you can come in at an entry level with second-hand karts, there is no reason to start huge.
"The sport is going through a big change at the moment with a focus on reduced maintenance and improved longevity with new motors but that means there are a lot of second-hand motors available."
The DKC championship consists of eight rounds in 2015 as well as various state and national events.
Full canteen and amenities are available trackside at Lincoln County Raceway and entry is free for spectators.
